Abaddon—commonly used name for hell. Home to the demon lords, demons, and a variety of other beings of dark origin.
Amaymon—demon lord. Jim’s former master.
Anima di Lucifer—Blood of lucifer. Aquamanile that Drake stole from Aisling, and one of the three Tools of Bael.
Aquamanile—a vessel used to pour water, frequently used in liturgical ceremonies.
Arielle – Tarot card reader employed by the GothFaire; sister to Tanya. Appears in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires.
Armand – A demonologist with the GothFaire.
Asmodeus – a demon lord, first appearing in Sex and the Single Vampire.
Association of Research Mediums and Psychics Investigation Trust (ARMPIT) – an organization begun by Guarda White and Eduardo Tassalerro that proposes to ‘further knowledge of spirits and spectral activity in Britain today’ by bringing together powerful psychics.

Bael—demon lord. Frequently referred to as Beezlebub. Principle spirit in Abaddon, leader of 36 legions.
Bafamal—demon who likes bright clothing.
Bartos, Detective Jan – Czech police detective investigating a murder at the GothFaire in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires. Joy Randall is particularly fascinated by the man’s uniquely expressive mustache.
Berto, György—woodsman/hermit who lived in a wildlife park outside of Budapest.
Blaine, Roxanne (Roxy) Mathilda Benner – American ex-librarian living in Florida with her pilot husband, Richard. Sidekick of Joy Randall; die-hard fan of C.J. Dante and his books. Appears in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires and Sex and the Single Vampire.
Blu, Sfiatatoio del Fuoco—wyvern of the blue dragons.
Bruno—the beautiful white Andalusian who is used in Peter's magic act and is generally cared for by Soren.

Camus, Albert—Venediger who lived in Paris; also owned the G&T nightclub.
Cartwright, Esme – Ghost; died in a fire in London during a German attack in WWII along with her cat, Mr. Woogums. Summoned by Allegra Telford.
Carson, Damian—Aisling's uncle, owner of Bell and Sons.
Cecile—elderly Welsh corgi belonging to Amelie Merllain, and object of Jim’s devotion.
Chalk, holy water, salt, dead man's ash, compass, gold scribe—items used in the process of summoning a demon.
Charles, Nora—Guardian, and mentor to Aisling Grey.
Circle of Ashtaroth—used to summon a demon.
Circus of the Darned—A sideshow type of act that joins up with the GothFaire every year for a few months.
Curse—an anti-ward, drawn in symbol form, sometimes by means of spoken words. Only a charmer can remove a curse.
Czerny, Benedikt— A 312 year old Dark One, and brother of Imogen. Appears in Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned.

Dafydd—Ben's 'blood brother' and the apparent reason for Ben disappearing for weeks at a time without letting Fran know where he was or what he was doing.
Dante, Christian Johann (aka C.J. Dante) – born in the year 1112 AD. Moravian Dark One, redeemed by Beloved Allegra Telford. Hero in Sex and the Single Vampire; also found in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires; Sex, Lies, and Vampires; and The Last of the Red Hot Vampires. Author of the popular Book of Secrets series of vampire romances. Residences in London, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
Davide – Miranda’s cat. Appears in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires, and also in the Katie Maxwell books Got Fangs? And Circus of the Darned.
Dawkins, Ophelia—Wiccan residing in Paris. Sister to Perdita.
Dawkins, Perdita—Wiccan residing in Paris. Sister to Ophelia, and manager of G&T.
Deauxville, Aurora—Bell and Sons customer who purchased the Anima di Lucifer.
Desdemona—A time-travel counselor with GothFaire who also seems to have the hots for Ben.
Dominic – self-declared vampire and co-owner of the GothFaire. Tanya’s lover. Appears in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires.
Dragon's blood—potent, spicy wine-based beverage favored by dragons, often lethal to mortals.
Drahanska Castle – C.J. Dante’s residence in the Czech Republic, complete with dungeons and gardens large enough to host the last night of the GothFaire on All Hallow’s Eve (Halloween) in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires.

Sir Edward—The spirit guide that Tallulah uses who can see anything from the Akashic Plain. He's also her boyfriend even though he's technically dead. Appears in Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned.
Effrijim—demon of the 6th class, taken the form of a Newfoundland dog. Originally bound to Amaymon, now bound to Aisling Grey. Prefers the name Jim as “less girly.”
Entemann, Honoria – Ghost; bound to Allegra Telford in Sex and the Single Vampire.
Eszes, Pál—green dragon and bodyguard to Drake Vireo.

Ghetti, Francesca – The 16 year old daughter of Miranda Ghetti and the heroine of the Young Adult books, Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned. Fran is also the Beloved of Benedikt, and is also an unwilling psychometrist.
Ghetti, Miranda – American wiccan, mother to Francesca. Originally from Oregon, currently employed by the GothFaire. Makes her first appearance in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires, then in the Katie Maxwell books Got Fangs? And Circus of the Darned.
Gils – A Viking ghost
GODTAM—acronym of the conference for Guardians, Oracles, Diviners, Theurgists and Mages.
Goety & Theurgy—nightclub in Paris popular with the Parisian Otherworld.
GothFaire – The ‘carnival’ for the Goth scene that travels Europe, much like a Renaissance Festival. Featured in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires as well as the Katie Maxwell books Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned.
Grey, Aisling—Guardian, wyvern’s mate, and demon lord.
Guardian—often referred to as keepers of the portals of Abaddon, Guardians have many roles, not the least of which is demon wrangling.
de Gutierrez, Antonio, Count de Seville –Spanish ghost who lived in England during the Elizabethan-era. Summoned by Allegra Telford.

Hewitt, Phillippa – British hermit based in London. Not an actual hide-away-in-a dank-cave hermit, but one who spends most of her time mentally cloistered and who offers her knowledge to those in need.
Hopkins, Jem – British ghost who was a waiter in nineteenth century London. Summoned by Allegra Telford.

Imp—small being of a dark origin, with four arms and a sqeaky, high pitched voice. Generally mischevious, but can be dangerous in large groups.

Keeper – a talisman inscribed with the power to bind an unsealed spirit. This allows a Summoner to contain a spirit and move it without its becoming visible. Whoever has possession of the keeper controls the spirit bound within it and if the keeper is destroyed, so is the spirit.
Kostich, Dr.—archmage. Official in the committee and overseer of the watch.

L'au-delà—the Otherworld, a term used to refer collectively to the immortal and mortal beings of paranormal origin.
Laufeyiarson, Lars—A strange man who wants Fran to sell the horse Tesla to him, but who disappears quietly after she tells him no.
Lesueur, Rene—taxi driver extraordinaire.
Li—red dragon, and mate to Chuan Ren.
Ljot—One of Eirik's Viking ghosts.
Lung Tik Chuan Ren—red dragon wyvern.
Lusus naturae—"Whim of nature." Law which states that one wyvern may challenge another for the right to his/her mate.

Milos – Slavic silent partner of the GothFaire with Dominic; appears in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires.
Moravian Dark One – Beings either born cursed or turned that way by another Dark One who can only be saved when he Joins with his Beloved. Dark Ones “drink blood to survive, are more or less immortal, and avoid sunlight,” as put by Allegra Telford in Sex and the Single Vampire. They are frequently referred to as vampires and were made quite popular by the series of books written by C.J. Dante.

Owens, Alis – Welsh ghost who worked as a maid during the eighteenth century; has a particular hatred for objects d’art. Summoned by Allegra Telford.

Panna – The little Hungarian girl who convinces Fran to buy Tesla so he won't be sold to the knacker and used for dog food. She also tells Fran that Tesla had belonged to her grandfather and that he'd told her simply that Tesla was a special horse. Appears in Got Fangs?
phantom – ‘A ghost trapped in limbo, neither in the spirit realm nor the human realm, with no hope of ever finding Release.” From Sex and the Single Vampire.
Princes of Abaddon—eight principle demon lords. They are known by many names (and variations on names), but most frequently as Amaymon, Ariton, Asmodeus, Ashtaroth, Bael, Magoth, Oriens, and Paymon.
Proust, Inspector—Parisian homicide detective.
Psychometrist:—Someone who is able to 'see' the emotions of those whom he or she touches. Also, a psychometrist can also often feel the emotions of those who have touched or handled an object by touching that object. Fran is gifted or curse, depending on your point of view, with this particular ability.

Ramon—Mikaela's husband and also a member of Circus of the Darned.
Randall, Joy Martine – American, married to Raphael St. John. Heroine in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires; also found in Sex and the Single Vampire. Now living in London with her husband and child. Allegedly cataclysient (uncontrolled ability to cause cataclysmic disasters through divination), although Joy disputes that label.
Redblood, Eirik – One of the Viking ghosts who looks to Fran as their goddess seeing as she's the one who inadvertently brought them into the physical world.
Release – The act of sending a spirit on from the human realm if it has no more unfinished business, generally performed by a Summoner.
Renaldo—blue dragon and bodyguard to Fiat Blu.

St. John, Raphael Griffin (aka Bob) – British, married to Joy Randall. Hero in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires. Also found in Sex and the Single Vampire. Security specialist living in London with his wife and child.
Sarra – demon; a minion of the demon lord Asmodeus. Destroyed by Guardian Noelle in Sex and the Single Vampire.
Sauber, Absinthe—The pink-haired twin sister of Peter as well as a co-owner (along with her brother) of the GothFaire. Absinthe is also gifted with the ability to read people's minds.
Sauber, Peter—Twin brother to Absinthe and also co-owner of the GothFaire with her. Peter is also the father of Soren, and is an illusionist who occasionally indulges in acts of true magic.
Sauber, Sorben—Peter's son, and also the only member of GothFaire who is close to Fran in age. Soren takes care of his father's horse, Bruno, and helps out with his father's magic act.
Shing—red dragon and bodyguard to Chuan Ren.
Slovik, Imogen—A 400 year old Moravian (her father was a Dark One, as is her brother, Benedikt) who travels with the GothFaire and performs palm and rune readings.
Society for the Investigation of the Paranormal (SIP) – the British version of UPRA.
Stephano, Paolo di—diviner and officer in the l'au-dela watch.
Sying—red dragon and bodyguard to Chuan Ren.

Tallulah – The medium of the GothFaire who is rumored to be related to a gypsy queen. She is also the girlfriend of Sir Edward, despite his not exactly being alive. Appears in Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned.
Tanya – witch employed by the GothFaire; incredibly jealous of Joy Randall and not afraid to tell anyone how much she dislikes the American woman in A Girl’s Guide to Vampires.
Tassalerro, Eduardo – Italian, head of Milan Psychics, Limited; co-founder with Guarda White of ARMPIT.
Tauhou, Gabriel—wyvern of the silver dragons.
Tej—Monish's assistant.
Telford, Allegra (Allie) – American Summoner, heroine of Sex and the Single Vampire; Beloved of Christian.

Tesla – An elderly Lippizan stallion bought by Fran in order to save him from the knacker while the GothFaire is in Hungary. Tesla's ancestry was revealed in Circus of the Darned.

Tiffany—professional virgin and self-proclaimed ice princess.
Tipene—silver dragon and bodyguard to Gabriel Tauhou.
Tirana – demon of the lesser variety serving the minor demon lord Oriens. Called forth by Allegra Telford in Sex and the Single Vampire.
Tools of Bael—three items used to tap into Bael's power. They consist of the Anima di Lucifer (blood of Lucifer), Occio di Lucifer (eye of Lucifer), and the Voce di Lucifer (voice of Lucifer).

Venus amulet—amulet inscribed with the third and fifth pentacles of Venus, leaving its bearer irresistible to mortals of the opposite sex.
Vikingaharta—Means 'heart of the viking' and is a pendant belonging to Tibolt but is rumored to be tied directly to the Norse God of mischief, Loki.
Vireo, Drake—wyvern of the green dragons.

Ward—magic in symbol form. Most, but not all, wards are protection-oriented, and all are customized by the individual drawing them. The most important element of a ward is the drawer’s belief in his/her abilities.
White, Guarda – President of ARMPIT; powerful psychic and Summoner in Sex and the Single Vampire who wants Allegra at her beck and call.
